The iconic giant standing stone circle at Stonehenge is the centrepiece of an extensive prehistoric ceremonial landscape. Exciting discoveries have been made here in the last few years, and you will hear the latest theories. The hot mineral waters that rise in Bath, unique in Britain, provide a continuing theme in the city's development from its legendary foundation in prehistoric times to the present. We visit the museum housing the Roman baths and temple precinct built beside the sacred spring, take a walking tour of the elegant honey-coloured 'Bath stone' Georgian crescents and squares brought to life in Jane Austen's novels, and hear the story of fashionable eighteenth century Bath's heyday. Later, there's time to enjoy tea at Sally Lunn's, a bit of shopping, or just to soak up the beauty and atmosphere of this lively city.
